Alkaline Salad Recipes: Butterhead Lettuce with Bell Pepper and Pumpkin Seeds
This alkaline salad is a little different from others, yet unbelievably delicious: fresh butterhead lettuce is always great – but if you refine it with good spices, pickled bell peppers, almonds and pumpkin seeds, the result is (at least in our view) one of the best tasting salads we know.
And yet this alkaline treat is full of goodness – the lettuce contains very few carbs but is crammed full of vitamins, as well as magnesium, calcium and potassium. Bell pepper has high amounts of vitamin C, and pumpkin are just yummy in every salad (but contain a lot of the alkaline mineral potassium).
Wash the lettuce and drain and put aside.
In a small bowl mix olive oil, lemon juice, syrup, cayenne pepper, garlic and sea salt and stir well. Use pepper generously to the taste.
Put lettuce in a large bowl, add bell pepper and almond slices and pumpkin seeds, and the dressing.
Mix well once again and ready is our alkaline gourmet salad.
Tip: If you don't have pickled bell peppers, just use fresh one (double the amount). Actually fresh is always better ;-) and especially more alkaline. And a pinch of Dijon mustard is also nice for the dressing!
