Alkaline Main Dishes: Buckwheat Pasta with Broccoli and Bell Pepper
With regard to pasta, we unfortunately have to say in general that the brands you can usually buy in the supermarket are absolutely not suitable for an alkaline diet (because of their high white flour and durum wheat content). Luckily there are a few alkaline pasta brands, especially spelt and buckwheat pasta, which are wonderful with fresh alkaline vegetables.
Cut all your vegetables ready to cook.
Heat up salt water and cook buckwheat pasta, as well as broccoli (in a separate pot).
Meanwhile heat up on medium heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a pan and sautee onions and garlic until translucent, stirring occasionally. Take this mix out of the pan and put aside.
Put 2 tbsp olive oil in the same pan, and cook veggies until tender (or firm to the bite) in this order: carrots, bell pepper, and finally the tomatoes.
Afterwards, add onions and broccoli (drained) to the pan and season with lemon juice, oregano, vegetable broth and salt and pepper.
Stir well, taste again, and distribute the veggie-mix over your alkaline buckwheat pasta.
Tip: If you want to chisel a bit (as cheese is NOT alkaline of course!) give some grated parmesan cheese over the pasta. Also fresh basil is wonderful for this alkaline recipe.
