Alkaline Side Dishes/Snacks: Mashed Brussels Sprouts with Cauliflower
What a great idea - instead of mashed potatoes you just make a deliciously alkaline brussels sprouts mash with walnuts and fresh herbs.
Together with cauliflower you'll get a very healthy alkaline recipe, because brussels sprouts not only contain countless vitamins (such as vitamin C, E and K), but huge amounts of alkaline salts and minerals like phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, sodium and calcium, as well as iron. Hence for our children a great alkaline treat too!
Cook the cauliflower florets in salt water until soft.
Meanwhile cook brussels sprouts in a separate pot until firm to the bite.
Put them, together with walnuts, parsley, basil, garlic and bell pepper powder, into a blender and blend until you have a mashed potatoes like texture. Season with salt and pepper.
Heat olive oil and lemon juice over small heat (don't boil!) and mix them using a whisk.
Distribute evenly cauliflower and mash on 2 plates, and pour olive oil-lemon-mix over cauliflower.
We wish you Bon appétit!
Tip: Instead of walnuts try hazel nuts, they are also alkaline und taste very good!
